About the collections



The Local History collection is made up of material pertaining to the history and people of Lake Oswego and some nearby surrounding areas.  To insure a comprehensive collection for the future, the library also collects contemporary works specific to Lake Oswego.  Highlights of this collection include:

  • Local newspapers from 1846 – present (on microfilm)
  • Newspaper index (online)
  • Historic maps
  • Scrapbooks and files on the Library
  • School yearbooks
  • Obituary and cemetery indexes
  • Vertical files with historical and contemporary material
  • Historic photos
  • Oral history interview recordings
  • Assorted original and historic documents

The mission of the Lake Oswego Public Library’s Local History Collection is to provide convenient public access to the materials in the collection while at the same time preserving these rare and fragile materials.
